Sunward Europe launches the SWTH 4014 at Platformers’ Days 2026

Sunward SWTH 4014 telehandler next to the SWTH 4018, booms raised and stabilisers deployed

Sunward Europe’s Aerial Work Platforms business unit chose Platformers’ Days 2026 for the exclusive European launch of the SWTH 4014, the 14‑metre model of its new 4‑tonne SWTH telehandler series. Visitors discovered it on 8 and 9 October at Messe Karlsruhe, Hall 1, stand H324, alongside an electric rough-terrain articulated boom lift and a compact scissor lift.

Platformers’ Days is a key meeting point for mobile lifting and height-access equipment in the German-speaking market, bringing together manufacturers, dealers, rental companies and users of aerial work platforms, cranes and telehandlers on more than 30,000 m². It was the natural stage for a machine developed around the realities of modern construction and rental work, where reaching the load is only part of the job: a telehandler must also access the site, position accurately, adapt quickly and remain easy to use for every operator.

Real capacity at height

With a maximum load capacity of 4,000 kg and a maximum lifting height of 13.60 m with stabilisers, the SWTH 4014 sits firmly in the 14-metre class. Maximum capacity defines the class, but what counts on site is what the machine can still carry when the load travels higher or further. With stabilisers deployed, the SWTH 4014 lifts up to 3,000 kg at full height and 1,500 kg at its maximum forward reach of 9.46 m. Its three-section boom makes it a focused tool for mid-rise handling and everyday site logistics.

Precise placement, fewer corrections

Operator assistance makes demanding boom movements easier to manage. The H/V Function, standard on the machine, coordinates boom and telescope so that the load follows a horizontal path at a constant height, or a vertical path at a constant forward reach. End-of-stroke cushioning on boom raising, lowering, extension and retraction makes every movement more progressive and reduces shocks on the load and the structure, a real advantage beside buildings, trucks, facades and scaffolding. Forward, neutral and reverse selection sits on the electroproportional joystick, and an inching function gives the operator deliberate control over the final centimetres.

Move, set up, lift

A productive lift starts before the boom moves. Hydrostatic transmission with shift-on-fly, four-wheel drive and three steering modes (two-wheel, four-wheel and crab) help the SWTH 4014 reach its working position in congested areas, with a 4.25 m outside turning radius, 400 mm ground clearance, 50% gradeability and a top speed of 25 km/h. Stabilisers and ±9° frame levelling are standard, so the machine can be set up correctly on uneven ground before the load is lifted.

A cab designed around the operator

The FOPS/ROPS certified cab brings together a 10.1-inch colour touchscreen, a rear-view camera that switches on automatically in reverse, a Grammer suspended seat, air conditioning, Bluetooth and USB, all as standard. The touchscreen displays real-time load height and forward reach, load-moment information, diagnostics and maintenance intervals.

Familiar power, ready to adapt

The SWTH 4014 is powered by a Kubota V3307 engine rated at 55.4 kW, delivering 335 Nm of torque, paired with a Dana hydrostatic transmission, Hengli hydraulic components and a Rexroth controller. A push-pull quick coupler and an auxiliary hydraulic line come as standard, ready for a range of optional attachments: FEM forks, floating forks and side-shift fork carriages, general-purpose, construction and 4-in-1 buckets, a frame-mounted hook and lifting jibs.

“The SWTH 4014 was built around what rental companies and contractors ask us for every day: real capacity at height, precise placement and a cab that any operator can master quickly. Platformers’ Days was the obvious place to launch it, because this is where the access and lifting community comes to compare machines side by side.”

Laurent Pons, Director Business Unit Aerial Work Platforms

Three machines on stand H324

On a 72 m² corner stand open on two sides in Hall 1, Sunward Europe showed how its access and lifting range covers very different heights and jobs. Next to the SWTH 4014 telehandler stood the SWA 18JE-P, an electric rough-terrain articulated boom lift offering 18 m of working height, 9 m of horizontal outreach and zero tail swing, powered by a high-capacity lithium battery for emission-free work indoors and outdoors. At the other end of the range, the SWSL 0607DC-S, the most compact model in Sunward’s DC scissor lift series, combines a working height of up to 5.6 m and a 240 kg platform capacity with a width of just 0.76 m, for maintenance and fit-out work in tight spaces.

Throughout the two show days, the Sunward Europe team was on the stand to present the machines and to meet rental companies, contractors and companies interested in representing Sunward access equipment in their market.

One series, two heights

The SWTH 4014 shares its cab, controls, Kubota engine and core specification with the SWTH 4018, which uses a four-section boom to reach a lifting height of 17.60 m and a forward reach of 13.40 m. For fleets running both models, this means one operator environment and one familiar maintenance routine.

Backed in Europe

The SWTH 4014 telehandler is supported in Europe by Sunward Europe Heavy Industry NV in Tessenderlo, Belgium, where every machine undergoes a rigorous pre-delivery inspection and critical spare parts are held in stock for delivery within 24 hours, and by a growing network of authorised dealers.
